History of Dan Fox Family Care

In 1990, Youth Homes added the Dan Fox Family Care program to its array of services. The Dan Fox Family Care Program is part of a statewide effort, in cooperation with the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS), to provide intensive social work and case management services to foster and adoptive families who provide temporary or permanent placements for children with behavioral and emotional disturbances.

Through this program, we place children into families that we have recruited, screened, trained and licensed. Our goal is to create and maintain healthy family environments within which children, who have been abused and neglected, can begin to heal. The Dan Fox Program serves families that live within about 60 miles of offices in Missoula, Helena and Polson Montana.

About Dan Fox

Dan Fox was a lifelong advocate for children. He worked nearly 20 years with Montana Child Protective Services as a social worker andprogram officer. He dedicated his work to helping children thrive by supporting them and strengthening their families. He strongly believed in mediation and conflict resolution for families in crisis. Dan left us too soon when he passed away at the age of 47 from cancer. We have honored Dan’s devotion to a legacy for children by naming the Youth Homes’ Family Care Program after him.
