Become a Foster Care or Adoptive Parent
In 1990, Youth Homes, Inc. added the Dan Fox Foster Care and Adoption
program to its array of services. The Dan Fox Program is part of
a statewide effort, in cooperation with the Division of Child and
Family Services (DCFS), to provide intensive social work and case
management services to foster and adoptive families who provide
temporary or permanent placements for children with behavioral and
emotional disturbances.
Through this program, we place children into families that we have
recruited, screened, trained and licensed. Our goal is to create
and maintain healthy family environments within which children,
who have been abused and neglected, can begin to heal. The Dan Fox
Program serves families that live within about 60 miles of offices
in Missoula, Hamilton, Helena and Polson Montana.
The Children We Serve
We believe that family is the best place for children; but if they
cannot be safe and nurtured in their own, we provide them with the
loving care of a foster or adoptive family. Children in our program
have come from a variety of broken homes, and have been neglected
or abused.
They range in age from two to 19 years, and often experience low
self-esteem, a lack of social skills, the inability to focus their
attention and, sometimes, angry disruptive behavior.
Due to our in-depth application and training process, and the care
we take in matching families with children, our placements are very
successful. In fact, our self-evaluation reveals remarkable success
in terms of stability, longevity and positive growth in the child.
