Pre-Race Meeting: There will be a pre-race meeting at 7:00 AM at the starting line (Riverside Park) for ALL competitors. The meeting will provide runners with the most up-to-date information on the race course and a review of all safety precautions. IT IS MANDATORY FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS TO ATTEND THIS MEETING. The Glacier Challenge 2008 begins with the 1OK leg at 7:30 AM. [The average runner came in at 43 minutes last year; fastest came in at 31 minutes.]
Equipment: Shoes and appropriate running attire. Event organizers are not responsible for any belongings left at race sites.
The Course: Begin at Riverside Park at starting line. Head down trail to footbridge, crossing Whitefish River to Scott Ave. Turn right on W. 6th St. [The road jogs right and then left – Be cautious of uneven roads and construction in this area!] At stop sign, turn right onto Geddes . Turn left on W. 4 th St. Continue to intersection of Karrow Ave. Turn left onto Karrow. [There is not a significant shoulder and cars tend to speed on this road, especially on the blind corners, so please be alert and aware.] Karrow does a sharp turn left, sharp turn right, and then left again. Continue on to Hwy. 93. [We will have a water station set up right before you turn on to the highway. It will be on your left at the Bohemian Grange Hall.] Turn left onto Hwy. 93. The shoulder here is fairly broad and eventually, at the Hwy. 40 intersection and traffic light, it becomes a sidewalk. Turn left at 19 th Street [car wash on corner] which turns into Baker Ave. at curve. Continue down Baker to Riverside Park. Hand wristband off to canoers.
Results: It is important for all racers to be visible to timekeepers when crossing the transition area. Timing of individual legs may vary based upon exchange area layout, which means personal times kept by racers may not correspond to official results.
