Pre-Race Meeting: There will be a pre-race meeting at 7:00 AM at the starting line (Riverside Park in Whitefish) for all competitors. The meeting will provide runners with the most up-to-date information on the race course and a review of all safety precautions. IT IS MANDATORY FOR All PARTICIPANTS TO ATTEND THIS MEETING. The Glacier Challenge 2008 begins with the 10K leg at 7:30 AM.

5K Runners: We recommend being at the Riverside Park transition by 10:45 AM. [The average runner came in at 28 minutes last year; the fastest came in at 18 minutes.]

Directions to Riverside Park in Whitefish: Entering Whitefish from Hwy 93 South, turn left onto W 15th St, then right onto Baker Avenue. Follow Baker across the Whitefish River. Riverside Park is on the north side of the river. The kayak launch/dock will take place on the east side of the park.

Parking: There is a limited amount of parking in Riverside Park. You will need to find parking on the streets surrounding the park and then walk back to the park.

Equipment: Shoes and necessary running attire. Event organizers are not responsible for any belongings left at race sites.

The Course: Begin at Riverside Park at handoff from kayaker. Head South on Baker Avenue. Turn right onto W. 7 th St. Continue through stop sign, cross over Karrow Ave. to Fairway Dr. Continue up Fairway through golf course. Fairway bears right just before hill. Take that right, continue up hill. [Be aware: do not take Fairway View.] At yield sign, bear left. Go through Grouse Mountain Estates to Hwy. 93. Make right onto Hwy. 93. Turn right onto Karrow Ave. Make first left onto W. 3 rd. St. Make right onto Geddes Ave. [There is no street sign here so watch for yellow Glacier Challenge signs]. At stop sign, turn left onto W. 5 th St. Road makes a 90 degree turn to the right, then 90 degree turn to the left and becomes 6 th St. Go left on Scott Ave., over footbridge and through finish line.

Results: It is important for all racers to be visible to timekeepers when crossing transition areas and the finish line. Timing of individual legs may vary based upon exchange area layout, which means personal times kept by racers may not correspond to official results.
