How You Can Help

Monetary Contributions

You can donate with a credit card using JustGive!

Donations to the General Fund: The Youth Homes is able to subsidize public funding and provide better quality care and better relationships through staff longevity for our children in need thanks to your donations to our General Fund. By giving to the General Fund, you make a gift that allows us to keep our mission possible. General fund contributions help pay for daily needs, clothing, and other operating expenses, such as staff training, food and transportation.

Special Activities Fund: Some examples of what this fund provides are: visual arts scholarships; support of recreational activities such as skiing or floating or riding; orthodontia; piano lessons or music lessons and sports camps such as football and soccer.

Gift Designations: There are endless ways you can specifically apply your gift according to your preferences and passions. Your gifts can be designated to your favorite program or home. You can also specialize what you want your gift to support by talking with our development office.

Roots & Wings Monthly Giving Program:
Roots & Wings is a way in which you can give on a monthly basis. Many of us find giving a smaller sum each month is a much easier way to budget our charitable gifts. Therefore, we established this very special way to give.

1. Why become a member of Roots & Wings?

  • Our Annual Party tickets will be mailed to you automatically!
  • It’s CONVENIENT! You can decide how to set up your monthly gift:
o Automatic transfer from your bank to ours
o Or we can mail you a monthly reminder and a postage paid envelope in which you can make your monthly gift– you decide!
  • It is up to you how much you would like to donate each month. The minimum is only $5 a month…that translates into a substantial gift towards the programs and services at Youth Homes! Remember, YH is a 501c3 non-profit organization and all gifts are tax deductible.

2. Why use Electronic Withdrawal to donate to Youth Homes?

  • CONVENIENCE: Eliminate the hassles of writing a new check every time you want to donate money. The funds are automatically withdrawn each month.
  • CONFIDENTIALITY: Donor information and account numbers remain completely confidential, used only by First Interstate Bank and Youth Homes.
  • SECURITY: Every transaction is sent by Youth Homes to First Interstate Bank via a secure website. These files are then sent directly to the Federal Reserve Bank where the proper accounts are debited and credited.
  • PRIVACY: You will never have to worry about your checks being or lost stolen with valuable personal information on them. All transactions take place electronically.

Planned Giving

  • Make a Lasting Gift to our Endowment: Gifts to our Endowment mean you are making a lasting gift. Gifts to our endowment are placed in irrevocable “trusts.” The interest is used to provide unfunded services, enhance staffing to meet needs of the children, make grants for graduates to pursue advanced education, and address additional, needed services for children and their families. Please consider our Endowment this year…investing in YHI means making a difference in the life of a child forever. State tax credits are available to support planned gifts to a qualified endowment. Contact us if you have questions about this or consult your legal or tax advisor. We accept gifts of stock, real estate, bequests, memorials, in-kind gifts, and planned gifts to our permanent Endowment.
  • Remember to thing of updating or creating your will.
Legacy Montana is an awareness effort to educate the public about planned giving. Locally, this effort was started two year ago through the hard work of a collaboration of Missoula non-profit organizations lead by Jean Bowman. This hard work paid off. Because of this effort many non-profit agencies have received a bequest, donors are able to receive accurate information about planned gifts and most importantly, the awareness of how to leave a legacy to your favorite non-profit has been heightened.
Youth Homes has benefited from being involved in Legacy Montana (formerly Leave a Legacy) specifically because we are able to get the word out that you can make a permanent impact on the work we do at the Youth Homes! Charitable giving through your will can be a way for you to continue touching the lives of so many of the young boys and girls we will serve at our Homes. By exercising your privilege to name Youth Homes as the recipient of some or all of your estate, you ensure that your commitment to helping youngsters goes on as a legacy of your caring. Legal forms should only be prepared by your personal attorney. If you desire additional information about the Legacy Montana visit the website www.legacymontana.org. We appreciate knowing when you have made the decision to put us in your will so that we may thank you.
