Make a Difference
Over the years, volunteers have given several thousand hours of their time doing a wide range of activities: mentoring youth, fundraising, providing individual and group therapy, helping with program development, and logistics.
We are currently looking for mentors for our summer and fall 2007 expeditions.
To be an InnerRoads mentor you must be willing to:
- Serve as a positive adult role model for approximately an hour and a half on a weekly basis for an at-risk teen for 6-9 months.
- Meet monthly with the Program Director and other mentors to discuss progress and pertinent issues.
- Spend approximately 10 hours during the first two weeks with your mentee during the community homestead time of their program and participate in group service projects and activities. After the kids go home mentors are asked to join the kids and staff for reunion activities twice a week during the 2 weeks following the program. Please see the expedition dates on our website for more detail.
What you can gain from being an InnerRoads mentor:
- The opportunity to engage in a challenging, rewarding, fun and meaningful relationship with a teenager. Youth who receive consistent, long term mentoring are much more likely to succeed.
- If you are an undergrad at the University of Montana, for 300 hours of service you can receive a $1000 Education Award to apply towards past student loans, current tuition, or future graduate school tuition. For 450 hours of service you can receive a $1250 Education Award.
- The opportunity for course credit through independent studies or internships. We can accommodate your needs to create an individualized learning experience.
